Excellent hair hacks!

Hair is a difficult topic to discuss. Why; Because of everyone's personal needs! It is important to know your hair type, mainly to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately, the hairstyles you love may not suit your hair thickness and many other things that make your hair unique. For this reason, it is important to be careful about what trends, tips & tricks you follow online.

These are the 8 great hair hacks!

1. Don't touch your hair too much with your hands

We often see a lot more breakage on one side of your hair as it is the side you touch the most. Constant teasing will eventually cause damage, so being more conscious about how often you play with or touch your hair will help you keep your cut longer.

2. Avoid hot showers to maintain hydration

Too hot water can strip the essential oils from your hair, making it feel very dry. This is especially true if you have curly, coarse or frizzy hair. Lower the temperature and use lukewarm water instead.

3. Apply shampoo strategically to avoid knots

Most people rub the mid-lengths and ends of their hair when washing. That's when tangles arise, as hair cuticles rise when they swell with water—and the lifted cuticles can lock together, causing a knot. The best way to stop this process is to concentrate the shampoo on the scalp. That's enough for cleansing - when the shampoo reaches the ends during the rinsing process, it will pick up surface dirt along the way, leaving hair clean and damage-free.

4. Apply vitamin C to boost color and shine

It's a trick hair colorists have been using for years, as vitamin C removes product build-up, pollution and over-dyeing. It really refreshes the color without changing it, and stops hair feeling flat. A Vitamin C Hair & Scalp Treatment product will be great - use it all over except the roots if you've recently dyed your hair as it can lighten it. If your hair is dyed or balayageed, try pulling out a few large sections and just apply the vitamin C product to the lengths and ends for a real shine.

5. Use silk to add volume

Sleeping with your hair tied on top of your head will lift your roots and create long-lasting volume. Dry or wet hair both work equally well here, but a silky hair tie is key. It reduces the friction, tension and breakage that could come from a traditional hair band.

6. Create the perfect wave with braids

For a believable curl with great hold, skip the heat tools. Divide your hair into four sections with a braid - two in the front and two in the back. After securing them with a rubber band, massage each braid to loosen it slightly. Then run an iron along each one for five seconds at a temperature no higher than 185°C. Once the hair has cooled, remove the rubber band and comb through with your fingers. For a more textured look, try braiding the hair in uneven sections.

7. Add heat to secure an updo

Give your hair a good blowout with a hot blow dryer before styling. You'll instantly gain volume and texture - and ultimately, more strength from the start. To create a loose, messy bun, try this: tie your hair into a ponytail, then lightly comb the hair back before wrapping it around itself. This will act as a "pin cushion", helping to hold it in place. Angle the bobby pins towards the hair band when attaching them for even more support.

8. Wipe the curls, do not rub them

Drying curly hair is a long process as to get good definition you need to blow dry it from wet to almost completely dry. I swear by bamboo sheets—or you can use a microfiber towel—to get rid of excess water right from the start. Use a patting motion instead of rubbing the hair, which disturbs curls and causes frizz. Plus, bamboo is softer and more absorbent than cotton, so you'll have much better curl definition in a much shorter drying time.
